Once home to the largest department store in New Jersey, 165 Halsey was a vacant 1.2M sq. ft. property in downtown Newark when JJOP purchased it in 1996. Recognizing its unusual proximity to fiber providers and unique building structure—including large floor plates, ample column spacing, open roof space, and more—JJOP saw its potential as an ideal location for a telecommunications carrier hotel and data center.
JJOP soon began a multi-year conversion project to transform the space into what it is today: one of the country’s premier telecommunications locations boasting over 80 MW of power. Twenty-four years later, JJOP has remained a hands-on owner and manager of the property, overseeing its day-to-day operations and driving its continued growth.
